Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing Race Report!

Great pic by our friend Patrik Jacobsson! 🙂

Sums up Drag Challenge 2023 at Gardermoen Raceway in Norway, This event was added to our calendar due to the problem we got at our planned test weekend at Tierp Arena in June when the camshaft broke and we did not get enough rounds in Jörgens Corvette 79 to be prepared for the Tierp race in August…

After Tierp in June Jörgen took the motor apart and cleaned out all the debris from the broken camshaft gear and then we put in a new camshaft from a different manufacturer, we also took some time to check the real compression in the motor now when I was involved in the tuning when putting it together and did some other updates on the Corvette to make it work better!

Gardermoen was the first race weekend of three in a row for us and Sofi made an awesome job and spent a lot of time trying to organize a huge shopping list for the coming race weekends then she and Max went to our long time partner and friend Kaare and ICA Gärdet on Monday evening before the Gardermoen weekend to get grocery’s so we in Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing will survive the coming weekends we got in front of us!

I once again want to take the opportunity to say thank you my friend for believing in me and for supporting my racing circus! I can’t explain how much this means to me, do like Kaare and ICA Gärdet, Support Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing and help us with our future madness!!

Me and Sofi arrived Tuesday evening in Ludvika around 20:30 for some pizza dinner!

Then me, Sofi, Jörgen, Katrin, Ludde and Bänkt loaded up all the stuff and the car in the trailer! And of course it started to rain when we got the Vette outside the shop! And that caused some extra clean up work for us to keep us busy!

But, we were ready to hit the road on Wednesday morning for Gardermoen Raceway in Norway!

After a rainy 7 hour trip me, Sofi and Bänkt arrived at Gardermoen Raceway on Wednesday evening!

We did build our pit camp and unloaded everything, did get some awesome delicious dinner made by Bänkts wife Babsan, cleaned out the trailer and just did have a good time!

We did not have any racing on Thursday, just good to be there in time to do some small stuff on the Vette, get it inspected, prepare for Friday and relax some!

On Friday we warmed up the motor, all was great and we were ready for qualification round 1 for the weekend at Gardermoen Raceway, our planned schedule was 12:00, 14:30 and 17:00!

But then some rain before Q1! And the temperature dropped down a bit at the same time! And then it started to rain way more!

Then we finally got our first round at 16:30 after the rain delay and some really bad communication from the track crew… And due to driver errors and some other stuff there was absolutely nothing good at all about qualification round 1!… Except that the track was way better than what I expected so the car kind if died on the starting line.

The pic above is to me!… 😉

Then we got one more round (Q2) on Friday at 19:00, that one went better when I added some power to the car after checking out the track in Q1!

After that we did service the Vette and made it ready for Saturdays qualifying!

Saturday at Gardermoen Raceway was a boring day! Woke up around 5 this morning to heavy rain on the trailer roof!… Around 9-10 the weather started to clear up and the crew was working on the track and the pit area started to get dry spots! But it was still cloudy and cold and we could feel the rain hanging above us!… Then around 11 it started to rain lightly and went over to heavy rain again to make sure that everything gets really wet!…

And this was exactly what the weather forecast said earlier during the week!… And it felt like it will only be a loooong day of waiting it the pit!

During the boring hours I decided to do some changes to the fuel system to add some power and also even up the cylinder fuel distribution to make the motor happier! Was hoping that we would be able to test it before the day was over even that I could not see it happening, and I also assumed that if we get a chance I’m pretty sure that the track will be too cold to do what I want anyway!… But the Vette was ready to warm up and make a pass, if we got a chance!

At least we did have great food and snacks to make the day better from our friends at ICA Gärdet!

But all day was all about rain on and off, sun, rain, drizzle, sun, heavy rain, thunder, lightings, sun, rain, sun and so on!…

Then suddenly it did clear up, track was dry and we were called out at 4 to make a round at 5, we warmed up the motor, I was in my driving suit and ready to roll down and it started to rain again so they called the qualifying for the day when that happened! The track crew had done an awesome job all day trying to make a track for us, they had really done all they could all day! Thanks for that to the crew at Gardermoen!

So, it turned out to be a day all just about waiting.

After a boring day Max felt it was a good thing to have some Lenco school with Jörgen and Benkt in the dark because the electricity went away for a couple of hours!

We got some great BBQ dinner made by Sofi and Katrin with groceries from our partner ICA Gärdet and friend Kaare!

And thanks to team Perman for letting us use our noisy generator to make dinner on Saturday when they were out fishing!

All we could do was waiting for Sunday and race day, was going to be exciting to see how it will turn out! Only Jan Ericsson have made a decent pass so far!

Then it was Sunday, it was cold, track was tricky and uneven when checking it with the trackmeter…. This would be a hard one to solve, I did my thing with the tune and I was pretty sure it would go down the track but might be a bit loose further out! But then some problems in the stagening process messed it all up….

It turned out to be a totally wasted run that should have been cancelled by the starter that didn’t do the job correct, (if you ask me) also… Autostart is the right thing to use so you don’t have a starter to mess up the round!.. Terje did take a really good time to back up the car, then it took forever for him to get into pre stage and stage (and he did apologize for that when we got out of the cars after the round) Thing is that I was on 2-step for so long time that I felt something must be wrong so I started to let of the throttle and when I did the starter let us go….. Then on a movie after the round I could see that Terje did go into stage and then bump out and in again! And, the car won’t work like planned if you are on 2-step go off the throttle due to the car in the other lane bumps out from stage and the starter is waiting for him then you get back on the throttle when you can see the three fall down!…  (or what now really I did, I can see on the boost curve and lean out system that I was not on full throttle when I released the trans brake button)

So, it was time to pack up and leave Gardermoen Raceway! Move on and forget a bad and rainy racing weekend, but not everything was bad! We did solve some issues on the car that makes us more prepared for the next race, the camshaft gear did survive so I got even more proof now against the manufacturer that I bought 3 cams from that broke, because just by change manufacturer the problem stopped! Isn’t that kind of strange when the one with the bad camshafts tells me that WE are the ones that does something wrong installing it and not him making it? We did install the Bullet camshaft in the same way as we did with the earlier one and now it works!… I’m going to make the next race also and then I will start to question the manufacturer when I have more time!

Then we also found out that the blower and fuel system set up that Jörgen bought now works just like I should after we found and fixed all the issues with it and there was A LOT to fix and adjust!… That’s really bad when you buy a “complete and turn key set up ready to make a pass” and have to spend tons of time getting it to work…. So I got some data during the weekend to start calibrate my fuel program!

It was a rainy trip home also, so no big change there compared to the weekend we just had!

The next race is at Tierp Arena this coming weekend for some more Pro Modified Racing with Jörgen Bergs Chevrolet Corvette 79! Hold your thumbs for some great racing weather and not like it was in Norway!…

This weekend did not turn out as we planned!.. Race report will come tomorrow.

It’s 1 hour after midnight and me and Sofi arrived at Jörgen shop in Ludvika a while ago after a 7.5 hour trip from Gardermoen that went really good even that it ended with rain, lightnings and thunder storms so bad it was hard to even see the road!

We will go out first against Terje Håkonsen, it’s pretty cold…. Let’s see if the track will take what I give to the car!…

Good morning Sunday from a cold (12 degrees Celsius) and wet Gardermoen Raceway!..

It’s race day here at Gardermoen, we will go out for first round around 11, but I haven’t heard it from the track crew!… Must say that the communication and information from the track crew to us teams have been really bad this weekend!

The weather forecast says not rain at least, but the track is wet right now and the clock is 9:00, it’s cloudy and cold so it will be interesting to see how this day will turn out!…

The Vette is ready to warm up!

And we just got some breakfast from our partner ICA Gärdet! 🙂

I have spend some time on the Chevelle in the ÅBM Shop and Team Ludvika have been working on the Vette in their shop!

Last weekend I felt it was time to get the Chevelle ready for the Dala-Järna exhibition race 19-20 of August!

So I checked through the motor, put it back together and then put it back in the car, and during the week I have done what I could to prepare it for Dala-Järna and the rest will be made at the track!

It might sound like it’s far away with almost 3 weeks but I have done something I never done before and put myself on the entry list for 3 races 3 weekends in a row!

And now after I put the Chevelle together as much as I can I need to go to Team Ludvika tomorrow, that by the way have made this year way easier for me so I can concentrate on other things I must do when it comes to the racing circus because Jörgen, Moa, Katrin, Ludde and Bänkt have been working on the Corvette to get it back together again so we can fire it up and do some small last stuff on it during this coming weekend, I’m not used to that things happens by it self like with the Corvette and that part of the team! 🙂

Then on Saturday or Sunday I will go home and pick up Sofi in Vansbro and then get back to Stockholm and organize the trailer.

Then next weekend we are going to Gardermoen in Norway for some EDRS Pro Modified racing with the Vette and get it tuned in!

After that home and service the car and then go to Tierp Arena for some FIA Pro Modified racing again with the Vette and start put down some real numbers with it!

Then to Stockholm and pick up the Chevelle and make it ready and put back all the parts from the Vette that I “borrowed” and go to Vansbro for Dala Street Open and the exhibition race, this is today my home track and my home motor club SHRA Vansbro – Äppelbo is one of the organizers so we will be there to make some noise just for fun and see if we can get the Chevelle down the track!

Right now due to too much work and preparations to make this possible it doesn’t feels so fun, but I know it will be when we arrive to a race track and all stuff if “done”

Hope to see you on some of the events with Jörgens Corvette and with the Chevelle during the coming 3 weeks!

Once again, thanks to all friends and partners that make this possible for us!

Ok, now about the camshaft / camshafts problem!…

Five years ago I bought 2 Hemi camshafts for 2 different customers from the same company and one broke / took out the distributor gear on the cam after just a couple of rounds, I got a new one on warranty ASAP which I really appreciated because the manufacturer assumed it must have been something wrong with it because he have never seen anything like this before and he wanted to help out if he sent a bad camshaft to me, really good customer service if you ask me!!

He also did some extra checking on the batch of camshaft he sent out to see if he could find anything that was wrong, but all was good and I also got some extra information on stuff to check measure and so on, all was good!

Put the cam in the motor, fired it up and took out the mag to check the distributor drive gear and camshaft gear, all was good, made a pass and took out the mag again and checked the gears, still all good! Customer made one more pass and the second cam I got on warranty broke also!… Just after a couple of rounds in the exactly the same way as the one before, they did have cam number BK144 and BK146. Manufacturer did some real checking to try find the problem / reason to this, but did not find out anything after a lot of work and research, everything was ok and by the spec to fabricate the gear / camshaft and so the second time I was told / we must do something wrong or it’s something wrong with the block / distributor drive which my customer have been using for a lot of years with different camshafts in it without any problem.

So, after that I did a lot of research on my end with BAE, AJPE, Noonan, CN and no one had ever seen anything like this. Checked with multiple racers and of course no one have seen anything like this before!

After that I got kind of disappointed because the manufacturer got kind of cocky and treated me wrong, at least that was my feeling! So I did order a cam with the exactly same spec from Bullet Racing Cams instead, did put in the cam and distributor foot / drive and tried to break it in with a drill and did that back and forward for a couple hours with the new cam and distributor gear and the problem disappeared after that! Then we kind of forgot about this problem and after that my customer have changed cam a couple of times due to hurt lobes etc and I have bought him new camshafts from Bullet that have been working without any problems at all!. So the cam changes after have nothing to do with the cam itself but still the important thing, no problem with the gear on cam or to the distributor after using the Bullet camshafts.

Answer from the manufacturer with the 2 broken cams when I told him that I changed brand on cam and now it’s all good was like “ok, if you have found a cam that works that’s good for you” And that wasn’t an answer I was happy with.

Funny thing is that I still have the BK144 and BK146 camshaft here at my shop because I felt 5 years ago that I was not really done with this and really not satisfied with what happened with the manufacturer and his answers to the problem!…

Now to the problem we have today, the camshaft that I bought together with number BK144 have number BK145 and that one went into Jörgens motor…. On that I tried to check all the measurements I was given from the manufacturer when cam BK144 broke to make sure it was all good, and it was so we did put it back in again!

After that his new car got delayed and during that time he got sick and will never be able to drive his brand new car (you have more about this in an earlier post) so he asked me to drive it for him to see it go down a track before selling it. And I have totally forgot I sold the BK145 camshaft to him 5 years ago… Made 2 test hits on Friday and all worked good, until Saturday morning when we warmed up the motor. Started just fine ran for 30 seconds or so and then went silent, checked spark and we did not have any and then I realized that we didn’t have any oil pressure, took of the cap and turned the motor and the rotor did not move….. Now I already knew what the problem was… I did remember the earlier cams that I finally had forgotten about…. Pulled the mag and the cam was damaged in the exactly same way as the two others!….

This is a completely different motor and customer, and I think that this is kind of strange that I got cam number 144,145 and 146 that brakes in the exact same way in 2 different motors and this have never happened before or after when I ask the manufacturer.

Only thing that was good this time is that it happened on idle and I held the trans brake button so it did not take out any other parts around except that a piece of the cam gear got pressed into the block by the crankshaft when the parts fell down.

The biggest difference between the 145 and the rest is that 145 have been fired up many times and probably made 40 minutes on idle due to different reasons now because Jörgen cant drive the car and because it took a lot of time to figure out the fuel system problems before the Tierp race…. Number 144 and 146 only made “normal” warm ups (number 146 got some extra checking after warm up) and passes, so I really don’t think it’s a gear / tooth problem here either….

But we are doing some measuring and comparing between the parts / tooth’s that came from Jörgens camshaft and one older Bullet cam that we did install in the motor that we damaged cams in five years ago.

And with the new Bullet cam that we now installed in Jörgens motor.

The gears on the ones that breaks is way wider, less room in the bottom between the tooth’s, and they are also not machined as nice as the Bullet cams as you can see yourself.

Then if that makes a difference? Well I’m not the one to tell for sure because I do not know, I do just see the differences between the cams..

I of course sent an email to the one that made cam BK145 with pics and explained that the same thing happened again!…. But I did not get any answer so I sent pictures to Bullet and asked them what they think and what the reason for this is, and I got the answer below.

“ The gear issue on the camshaft is from improper heat treating of the core. The camshaft was hardened too long making the gear brittle. No other possibilities. That is was the problem is! “

So, I sent below to the manufacturer of the broken cams,

When I didn’t get any answer from you about my email I had to send the pictures to another manufacturer because I’m kind of tired and frustrated over this situation that now been going on for 5 years. And they told me it must be improper heat treating.

The answer I got was kind of disappointing I must say… Below is a short part of what he said,

“I’m glad you have a resolution. It is pretty amazing they are able to diagnose hardness with a picture. They must be pretty special. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard for you to find someone local to verify hardness.  When you do find, in fact, that the heat treat is in spec, maybe your other source will eat some humble pie.

And I must say that the answer made me kind of angry for the first time because being cocky in this situation does not make me happier!…. So now I will for sure do all I can to find the real problem with the 3 camshafts, like I said I still have all three in my shop and I have already installed a new camshaft from Bullet in Jörgens motor, in less than three weeks from today we will know if he Bullet cam will survive or not.

I’m pretty sure it will and then I will continue to find the real reason and I’m not afraid to argue when I know I’m right and now when they start to treat me like they do nothing can stop me to find the real problem!

Next is to find out how the heat treating should be, I know how hard it should be on the surface! But how far in in the core is the next thing to find out!

I will let you know for sure!

After some well needed vacation I felt that it’s time for a little late Race Report from Tierp Arena and Sweden Internationals! And some stuff / the story about the Corvette before the race.

Great photo by our friend Patrik Jacobsson!

As all of you know now, we did have a little secret for the first event in 2023!

A lot of people were curious, many called, sent text messages, asked questions on social medias etc. when I put myself on the entry list in the class Pro Modified with the Chevelle for the first event this year!

I of course did it with purpose to confuse because I think that dragracing in Europe is pretty lame and boring in social media, no one says anything and pretty much no one shares anything fun….. So, I was looking for some fun reactions! And I succeeded with my mission! 😉 Some of you did guess right, some were close or in the area and I also heard A LOT of talk that was completely wrong and that made me really happy! Because that was my idea! 😊

Anyway, this whole thing with Jörgens Vette started in August last year when he and Benkt went with us to Sundsvall Raceway for Top Doorslammer round 4 in 2022!

On Saturday when I was in the trailer working on a tune for the Chevelle he went in to me and said “Andreas, do you have time? We need to talk about a thing” When he said that I already knew what was coming! For some reason I did have the feeling that he would ask me to drive his race car.

I have helped Jörgen with some small stuff in the past and we are good friends and when I go from the shop in Stockholm and home to Vansbro I pass by Ludvika where he lives and I stop by to say hi every now and then. And me and Sofi also helped out fire up the motor in the Vette for the first time at his birthday almost 3 years ago!

The story behind the Corvette is that Jörgen crashed his old Top Doorslammer Chevrolet Nova at Piteå Dragway in 2017, after that he ordered a new car from Mats Brag and he was going to step up to Pro Modified with it. The car got delayed and during the time Jörgen got sick and he’s not able to get out his racing license….

So that’s the reason why he asked me to do this is because he won’t be able to drive his new race car and he told me that he wants to see it go down the track…..

So, he wanted my help to finish up the car, set up the chassis, fuel system, make sure we have all the right stuff in the car and that it all works properly, fix the ignition system, fuel management, Racepak and so on. And then drive and tune the car with my complete team with help from Jörgen and Benkt and then also use my truck and trailer to make everything easier, and I said YES OF COURSE! I’m really honored that he asked me to do this and to drive his brand spanking new Pro Mod Chevrolet Corvette -79! I did see this as an opportunity for me to learn something new, I have never tuned a Pro Mod legal roots blown Hemi before by myself. It’s a pretty big change from my own Big Block Chevy with a screw blower and of course it will be fun to drive and set up a new and different car / chassis! I did see it as a challenge for me to make this work and I actually got some racing spirit back again!

I’m an Outlaw Screwblower and Top Doorslammer guy in my heart and I prefer a Big Block Chevy but I really looked forward to make two test races in the Pro Modified class with all the old farts! 😉

So I made a special shirt to wear during the races this year! 😀 😉

And something else that I really like is that the body style is not something you see everywhere, just like with my own Chevelle 65!

I mean, how about that butt!! 🙂

So during the start of the year I began to work on some tuning stuff and we did look through the car to see what was missing and what we needed to add to it, one thing for me to be able to drive the car was to throw out the dirty clutch and put in my Neal Chance converter, Bruno Drive and Lenco from the Chevelle in to the Vette! Not because I don’t want to drive a clutch car because when it comes to the driving its way more fun with a clutch BUT it costs way more, way more work and maintenance with a clutch if you want the same conditions every round with the car!…. And I don’t want to work on it, we do not have time to work on it and I have more Lenco ratios and knowledge when it comes to a converter, so a converter is the only option for me!

Then I wanted to rearrange some stuff in the driver area to make the car fit me better, so in the mid of April (2 months before the first outing) Me, Jörgen and Benkt started for real to work on the car and make it ready for the Tierp test event in June! The plan from the start was to only make that event a test weekend to start figure out the car.

I did spend hundreds of hours myself on stuff on my end at my own shop and Jörgen and Benkt did work on stuff in Jörgens shop and then together we have spent a couple of hundreds of hours together at Jörgens shop during a total of maybe 10 days or so! Just like always, time is a problem and getting help at the shop is always difficult… It’s most of the time a one-man band working on race cars in the shop but at least we were 3 in the band this time! HAHA! 😉

We got the car ready the day before or so before Tierp after a lot of problems with the fuel system and blower package!….. More about that in a new post!

Bänkt are doing his sausage thing! 🙂

And Me and Sofi took the truck and trailer on a little secret trip of 310 kilometers from the ÅBM shop in Täby to Jörgens shop in Ludvika on Tuesday before the Tierp race.

To do some last things on the car and then load the Corvette on Wednesday morning and then go to Tierp Arena!

The Corvette have finally found it’s way to a race track for the first time!

We unloaded the car after we got our pit area done and it was some people that went over to us and was happy to see “our little secret”

We also took the Vette for a test drive with the push car to see how it felt before launching it from the starting line for the first time!

We did continue to work on the car on Wednesday and during the whole Thursday mostly with the fuel system and idle problem…. We decided to go early to the track so the rest of the team could get familiar with the car because they had never seen it before and the race weekend / qualifying for us started first on Friday.

We made 2 planned soft test rounds on Friday, first just a 60ft to check the car and set up on it! 1.07 on a brand new car that never made a pass before is pretty ok I think with the little power I gave to it, only problem was the rolling idle on the motor that we been trying to fix but haven’t solved it all the way!….

On the second test pass I added some power to see how the car would react to it, but before the pass when we fired up the motor before the burn out the motor acted really crazy, idle was rolling more than earlier and after the burn out the idle was all the way from 1500-2400 in neutral…. And in gear it was really hard to hold the car with the brakes, I had to step way hard on the brake to try control the car but succeeded to stage it at least and made a 450ft ish pass, 1.00 to 60ft and was off the throttle at 2.99 and rolled into a 4.30 to the 1/8 mile! Car was still way down on power, rich on fuel, low timing and way too low gear ratio in the transmission! BUT I got what I wanted and next step is to add some power and make a full pass down the track to get more data on the motor and start reading real fuel flow, spark plugs and so.

Then we serviced the car to see that everything looks like it should, changed transmission to free up the motor and all was ok!

After that we continued to mess around with the blower and fuel system trying to figure out why we have so much problems with the idle!…. We took the injector hat and spacer off the blower and we found a lot of strange leaks, everything from o-rings, to mismatching parts that caused leaks and strange openings between parts that we sealed up to try control the idle.

We also found a leaking check valve in the fuel system, I wonder how the seller was able to control the opening pressure on it when it was machined wrong and did not close after it opened…. It was closed first, then when it did open it did not close until pressure was zero and then it opened again at a pressure that of course also was wrong compared to what I was told it should be….

After that we got some awesome BBQ dinner presented from our great friend and partner Kaare and ICA Gärdet! 😊

Then on Saturday the plan was to start making real rounds after the data I got on Friday, we fired up the motor to make it ready for the first round on Saturday! Now the idle was better with less rolling after all the messing around with the blower on Friday evening!

All felt awesome and then the motor just went silent!…

We all got a bit confused for a while and after some quick trouble shooting we found out that we did not have spark or oil pressure when cranking the motor…. We took off the distributor cap and the rotor did not turn as I assumed to be the problem, why I did is because I have had this problem earlier! Pulled the mag and the distributor gear on the cam was gone!… I have seen this 5 years ago…. Of the same batch where this cam comes from!…. More about this in a new post.

Anyway, me, Jörgen and the whole team were happy with the weekend anyway, chassis works and respond great to my set up, motor started to get happy after all the mess with the blower and fuel system and then the cam broke!….

I want to say thanks to all involved this weekend, Jörgen first of all that trust me and gives me the opportunity to drive his brand new Pro Modified car! Dad (Ake), Sofi, Max, Krille, John The Sneaky Snake, Marcus, Dennis, Benkt, Katrin, Ludde, Moa and Robert that was the team for the weekend! It was a lot of emotions and feelings during the weekend at Tierp Arena due to getting Jörgens Corvette out for the first time and also the loss of Jörgens great friend Rolf Simonsson that passed away in May this year.

Then I want to say a special thanks to my partners that supports this test year in the class Pro Modified, our own shop of course Åkes Bil & Motor, Peter and Patrik at Rörmekano, Tobbe at T.Grundström Plåtslageri, Christer at Alwerco Svets & Smide, Kaare at ICA Gärdet, Micke at Clearwrap East Coast, Nicke at Nicclast and Leif at Catch With Care! All of you helping out makes this possible for us to do and I can not thank you enough!

Directly at Tierp after the camshaft broke we started to talk about where we can go and test the Vette before the next Tierp event in August! The event in June was just for testing and August is for racing so we cannot go there with only 2 test passes I the car…. I did know about some tracks that might an option, but the some are not good enough for what I want to do, some of them is tracks I don’t want to visit due to different reasons…. Then we talked about to take the Corvette to Kauhava in Finland instead of the Chevelle that was planned! But a work situation did destroy that plan so instead we are going to Norway and Gardermoen Raceway 4-6 of August, best thing with going to Norway is that they are running the EDRS Pro classes so Pro Modified is a class at the event and we will get more 1/4 mile passes in the car before Tierp and that is better for me to find a good tune up in the car!

I hope to see you all at Gardermoen Raceway in August!

I decided a while ago that we won’t go to England and Santa Pod Raceway for The Doorslammers and Main Event in 2023 either!… 🙁

It wasn’t enough cars / teams from Sweden that was interested to go to the events and only 3 cars in the class for the Main Event weekend is not fun, it’s also way too expensive ferry’s and diesel fuel and also still not simple enough when it comes to customs etc due to Brexit!…. All above takes too much time and cost too much compared to what it gives back so we can’t make the trip!..

We really wanted to go but if I can’t find enough fundings for it and it won’t be enough cars there to make the event I feel it’s wrong to work on it, and to be honest I do not think we will see a lot of cars from Scandinavia attending races at Santa Pod I the future due to Brexit and how expensive everything have got….. But I really hope that I’m wrong about that!

And I really hope it will be different in 2024! 🙂

And when it comes to the EDRS Top Doorslammer series in 2023…

It does not fit us at all, I can’t be away from work for more than 3 weeks to make Piteå, Kauhava and Sundsvall that are 3 weeks in a row! July is a typical vacation month for most people in Sweden and my team can’t spend 3 whole weeks on the road just for racing…

Drag racing in Sweden is not a work that you get payed for, it’s just spending money!

And the price money is not enough to pay for what it really cost, of course more partners would make it possible but still it’s too much time away from everything back home!

And after the 2022 series finals at Gardermoen in Norway I did learn that it’s way too late to have that race in September, it was way too cold to be able to use the car and go fast!… So I can’t see that we will go to that event either.

But what I do know is that we are going to Tierp Arena in June, and we are going to Kauhava in Finland in July if they solve the problems so they can continue to use the track…

And we will for sure go to Dala-Järna in August for the race Dala Street Open, this is just an exhibition thing and we will do it just for fun because this is today my home track and my home motor club SHRA Vansbro – Äppelbo is one of the organizers so we will be there and do some burn outs just for fun and see if we can get the Chevelle down the track even that the track won’t be prepped for an high powered race car like ours! 🙂

Not much have happened since the 2022 season ended except that I have made a lot of posts on Instagram and Facebook with great memories from last year, it’s really fun to look back at the first real season we made in years that also ended up just amazing good for us! 🙂

In the beginning of March me Krille and Fredrik went to Florida and Bradenton Motorsports Park for the World Series Of Pro Mod, that was a crazy good race with the top of the line Pro Mods, drivers and tuners in the world!

It was fun to meet up with some friends I haven’t seen in many years!

This is something I look forward to do again in the future!

And we have just started to work a little on the Chevelle again after sitting in the shop untouched for about 6 months except for our little event at our partner Swedol in Arninge in October last year.

Me and Max did service the converter and converter drive some weeks ago and both are ready to go back into the car whenever it’s time for it!

Stay tuned, more to come soon!
