Welcome to ÅBM Racing

Top Doorslammer

Parts are rolling in all the time right now to the Chevelle, at least one thing that works like it should do… But also I am the one that makes it happen and I don’t need to wait for someone to do it for me… 😉

The UPS truck and boxes, it’s Christmas isn’t it? 😀

Recertifyed, repaired and washed driving suit! 🙂

Recertifyed Hybrid neck device.

Recertifyed transmission blanket, some engine parts and some new chassis stuff! 🙂

Tuesday last week Jonnie Lindberg did help me to get the trailer back home about 7-8 weeks later than what I was told it would take to fix the things I wanted to be done on it.. Anyway I got some pretty big problem because I’m not satisfied at all with the work that is done on it and this puts us in a really bad position right now when it comes to have the things I wanted done on it before next season, I am right now waiting for the guy I been dealing with to get back to me and hope that he will fix the stuff that I am not happy with. But still even if he does I have a really big problem to solve because you can’t buy time…. 8 weeks is a long time and that means we are 8 weeks behind in the schedule on the trailer…

I was hoping it would feel good to bring it back home, but I was only upset and angry instead…

Jonnie is not only an awesome Top Alcohol Funny Car driver, he for sure knows how to drive a truck and trailer!

At least we have the trailer in a shop so we don’t have to work on it outside during the winter, a huge thanks to Göran at Takmakarna for letting me rent a spot in his shop! 🙂

During the weekend last week me and Patrik “The Mas” started to make a plan for it should look like on the inside, but we can’t start work on it for real due to the stuff I’m not satisfied with that needs to be solved first…

Simon Arvidsson did put together a little movie with some random funny clips from our test season 2015 just to thank you all out there that supports us, sponsors, partners, friends, family and fans! Hope this will get you warm inside and make you think about summer and racing instead during this dark and cold time of the year! =)

Enjoy!

I did take a little brake from working and got a cup of coffee just to check some on the Internet and got to my starting page on my computer, my own homepage of course… www.abmracing.com and did see the text “the construction of our Chevelle 65” in the menu, I did click on it and realized that it is exactly 10 years ago since me and two good friends went up north in Sweden late and Friday night to buy a chassis that the guy who once did race with “Bjursås Camaron” started to build. It did have a Chevelle 65 body to it, I bought it because one of my friends (Jonatan Skoot) that went with me on the trip called me a couple of days before and said “this is cool, you must buy it and put together your 377 small block, you got the little M block the Callies crank, pistons, rods, heads and also the blower you bought from Adam Flamholc, just buy it this will be awesome” so we went and bought it! From the beginning I was supposed to build the car for a Swedish class named Super Small Block and then my dad found out that we were not allowed to run in the class without mufflers and a real race car does not have any mufflers he said… So this ended up with that I started on a new chassis and sold the old one because it was now time for a Pro Mod car and after some more time I decided that the metal body and the fiberglass was to heavy so I sold the plastic parts and bought everything in steel instead so I could make my own mold of the Chevelle and get a carbon fiber body instead, and of course it went that way.. A huge thanks to Kenneth Holmberg at Swecomposite for believing in me and helping me out all the way! At the same time the body was done I got a really good deal to sell my roots blower and buy a screw blower instead and of course i did! =) And this changed class for me for the third time before the car was even ready to test drive, now it was time for Top Doorslammer instead! It took 5 years before I was able to test the Chevelle for the first time, during the build of it I did think a lot of times that “fuck this, I’m going to sell this stupid money eater” but I never did… During 2011 we did test the car many times at Kjula Dragway, 2012 we did compete in a couple of Top Doorslammer races, 2013 we only did 2 test races because of a really big update on the engine, 2014 we went to 9 races and made the whole Top Doorslammer series, 2015 we went back to take it a little easy and only made 3 outings because some big updates on the car and also that we are going to build a new trailer to transport everything in so we can make the whole Top Doorslammer series during 2016 again!
One funny thing is that after 5 years of building 5 years of testing the only thing I got left from the car I once bought to start racing with is the two tail lights, it’s a lot of work and a lot of time spent in this deal…

Sometimes I wonder if it’s really worth it…. Sometimes I say a BIG NO and sometimes I say a BIG YES!… Just wonder, what do you think?

Remember time flies, spend it right!

/Andreas.

On my way home from our after the season 2015 meeting in Top Doorslammer. A good meeting with a lot of people and the best thing of all was that we did get the event dates for the Scandinavian Top Doorslammer series for 2016!!

The calendar for next year looks like this!

Malmö Raceway, May 13-15

Tierp Arena, June 16-19

Sundsvall Raceway, July 1-3 (preliminary date might change)

Piteå Dragway, July 8-10

Gardermoen Raceway, August 5-7

Tierp Arena, Top Doorslammer Finals, August 25-28

Ok, so I have been home for about a week now after 3 awesome weeks in USA! 3 weeks full of racing, first in Tulsa with Brandon Pesz and Randell Reid, the weekend after in Dallas with the Lindberg Brothers and the last weekend in Virginia at the PDRA finals with Brandon and Randell again, I have learned a lot, did meet old friends and made a lot of new ones! This was and awesome trip, that’s for sure!! 🙂

But now everything is like it was before except for my memories! 😉 Now it’s time to get some stuff done in the shop so my customers will be happy and then get the Chevelle and our new trailer ready for the racing season 2016!! 🙂

Stay tuned! /Andreas

I am in USA right now and have been here for one week, last weekend I was in Oklahoma at Tulsa Raceway Park and the Throw Down in T Town together with Brandon Pesz and Randell Reid that drives two of the worlds fastest doorslammers, Brandon is also a really smart engine builder / tuner so it is a really cool and awesome experience to know and get the chance to help these guys!

After the race we headed to warm and sunny Texas and the Reid Motorsports / Pesz Power Performance shop to service Randells car before the next race in Richmond, Virginia and the PDRA Finals 22-24 October!

Must say that life feels pretty good right now and the funny thing is that this coming weekend will Jonnie Lindberg be racing in Dallas, Ennis at Texas Motorplex so if course when I am nearby I will go and work some on the worlds fastest and quickest Top Alcohol Funny Car between the two race weekends with the Pro Extreme Doorslammers! 🙂

Some really positive changes, we got two new team members in Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing!

One of them will have photo / media as the main work and also help me update the homepage when we are out racing so I can spend more time tuning the car instead! The other one is a mechanic that is not afraid to get his hands dirty and that’s really good so we can turn around the car quicker between rounds next year!

This is Patrik Lissjos, in Swedish we call him “The Mas” because he is from up north Sweden, speaks funny and will work really good together with Simon because he is also a “Mas”. Patriks main work will be doing service work / check chassis stuff on the Chevelle so everything will be in good condition! He is also a really happy guy that you all can see on the picture! 😉

This is the next one, Patrik PG Gineman, also called Christian, Polka-Gris and some other names but he prefers PG! 😀 Patriks main work is media / photo, and help me update you guys about what’s happening when we are at the track during the season! He was with us during the race at Tierp Arena this year and I really liked Patriks work and he did fit like a glove in the team!

So Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing is taking even one more step forward to promote our sponsors and partners more than before! How many teams in Europe got two guys that got media as main work? We do, one photo and one movie guy! 😉

And about sponsors, Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing is always looking for new partners to work with, interested? Contact us!

Go to www.pgphoto.se to see Patriks earlier work!
